Ted, Sales Director
Major High Technology Firm

Ted was working hard but wanted to try and get he and his team working smarter. Managing a team of 10 sales reps and eight engineers is challenging. Ted remembers how the weekly forecast calls would go. The calls were lengthy. It seemed many reps weren't prepared with needed information. Priorities were changing to effectively deploy resources. Ted heard a lot of excuses and many were spending valuable time on non-value added activities vs. time in-front of customers. You need to be able to clearly articulate the sales plan and execution strategy in a dynamic sales environment.

Ted is glad he decided to implement the Goal-based Time Management methodology and started using the LifeSystems Planner. A 2 hour training session included a process that resulted in better clarity of goals for all team members and their relationship to higher level objectives. They built plans that drive the scheduling of their time, and began using the Planner. Everyone uses a printed visual weekly calendar driven from the corporate system. Team members are better at capturing and managing daily tasks & interruptions. Critical account information and key reports, including the forecast, are available at their fingertips at all times. People are more likely to be on time and prepared for meetings. Ted's team members tell him they feel more in control - better able to balance work and life, and they've seen a difference in him too.

Dave, Engineer
Automotive Company

Dave's team is responsible for subsystems that go into the company's vehicles. He wished he could spend more time on true design work, often citing increasing demands that were conflicting. By the time Dave attended staff meetings, quality and production meetings, combined with constant interuptions and changes, there was little time left during the day for his design work. He decided to try and improve his time management skills. He kept notes and ideas in a spiral notebook and found himself spending alot of time searching through his notes to find what he needed.

After browsing the internet, he discovered the LifeSystems Planner® and decides to purchase it on-line. After completing the brief training manual, he implements the goal-based time management(sm) process described. One of the things he realizes is his energy level is different during the day and should be matched to the right activity. Dave knows he is most creative and can get his best work done in the morning. As a result, he works with his manager and team members to let them know he is unavailable, unless it is an absolute emergency, from 7am until 11am daily. This is what he calls his "creative time" dedicated to design work.

He now uses his planner to schedule his week in advance using blocks of time. He also uses the built-in journal capability and has done away with his old notebook approach. This enables him to disassemble and reassemble his notes according to common topics even though they may have been written over the course of months. He also has key project data at his fingertips whenever the need arises during staff meetings instead of telling someone he will need to get back to them.

Susan, Executive
Biotech Firm

Susan is Vice President of Operations with over 500 employees. The CEO and board are counting on her unit this year in order to meet some agressive growth targets. In order to meet these targets, she needs her direct reports and their respective teams to execute the operating plan. She felt many in her organization, herself included, spent alot of time on things that weren't directly related to key goals.

Even though they have implemented a scorecard system supplied by their ERP vendor, many in her group were misaligned and employee satisfaction was sketchy. Gaining better goal alignment across the organization and improving time management skills of her workforce had real value.

By using the LifeSystems Planner on a day-to-day basis she and her team can more effectively manage their time, and better leverage key systems and information in the organization. Members can review their top goals and build plans that drive their schedule.

Capabilities included a visual picture of her weekly schedule and a list of her top priorities that she can review at any time, a business journal for capturing key information, and integrated personal journal for daily reflection giving her better insight.
